Aitch ‘B’, a consummate DJ since 1983, one of “The Original Funki Dreds” and a recording artist since that time with the Group SOUL II SOUL®.
Famously known for such tracks as Fairplay, Keep on Moving, Back to Life and Get a Life. The group has been a recipient of 2 Grammy Awards for Back to Life and African Dance, Rolling Stone's Best New Foreign Band, 3 Soul Train awards for Keep On Movin', Billboard's Top Dance Artist, A Black Music Award for Best Contribution (Dance), 4 DMC DJ Awards including Best Album & Best Track, Nominations for 2 further Grammy Awards, an Ivor Novello Award nomination and numerous other awards from around the world.
Aitch is also a song lyricist, the groups work has featured on film soundtracks such as, The Prince of Tides with Oscar® winner Barbara Streisand and Nick Nolte, Black Rain with Oscar® winner Michael Douglas and, 'How Stella Got Her Groove Back' featuring Angela Bassett who starred along side Oscar® winner Denzel Washington in Malcolm X, The Pelican Brief, Fallen, Training Day.
As one of the original SOUL II SOUL® sound system crew, Aitch honed his already evident skills and lateral ability as a DJ. His experience and reputation was further enhanced by being a fundamental part of a collective headed by Jazzie ‘B’ that became a major player in the United Kingdom dance music scene gaining worldwide and mainstream exposure, in the late eighties who’s music still sets alight dance-floors today.
From the "Blues and Warehouse" parties, to the birth of the "Original Rare Groove" scene, to the ground breaking Africa Centre on Sunday nights and Friday nights at The Fridge, Brixton, Aitch was very much on the cutting edge playing tunes that really mattered, further establishing him as a well known and respected figure in London's expanding club scene.
As SOUL II SOUL® the band stormed into the National Charts and began to spread their happy face, thumping base for loving race philosophy world-wide, Aitch employed his lyrical writing abilities and penned the lyrics for "Get A Life" as well as other tracks on the various Soul II Soul® albums and projects.
During this period and beyond, Aitch found himself on a plane DJ-ing covering all corners of the globe. Aitch continues to stoke the fire to inferno levels maintainining his work at the very exclusive Cobden Club, West London, Rouge Central London, Liv House at Herbal, Hoxton and JazBah®, where he is a resident DJ that remains firmly loved and respected by all at the club.
